Division Mission
The Animal Control division of the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office is responsible for enforcing animal control ordinances throughout the county. Our Animal Control Officer works to ensure the safety and well-being of both animals and community members.
Key Responsibilities
Animal Welfare Enforcement
Investigating reports of animal neglect and abuse, enforcing county animal control ordinances, and ensuring animals are treated humanely throughout DeKalb County.
Stray Animal Response
Responding to calls regarding stray, lost, or dangerous animals. Safely capturing and transporting animals to appropriate facilities for care and reunification with owners.
Community Education
Educating the public on responsible pet ownership, local animal ordinances, rabies prevention, and how to safely interact with unfamiliar animals.
